AI and your profile data

No AI (artificial intelligence) is involved in scoring your answers. CalmCompanion, an AI companion, is in development and not yet available. This page explains what it would use and what it would not do.

In short

The short version first.

Each part of this page starts with a short summary in plain words. The full detail follows. You only need to read the detail if you want to.

What it would read

A summary of your NeuroProfile results, such as how you prefer to communicate and which sensory areas affect you most. NeuroProfile is the free questionnaire on this website. It would also read your masking and burnout bands. A band is a fixed range of scores. It shows how much of that pattern you reported. It does not compare you with other people. Masking means hiding or changing how you naturally act to fit in. Burnout means deep, long-lasting exhaustion. When you write to CalmCompanion, what you write would be sent to its AI service too, along with the summary of your results.

Why it would read that

So its replies could be calmer and more relevant, and you would not have to keep explaining yourself.

What it would not do

It would not diagnose autism or any other condition. It would not be a crisis service. It would not be a general mental health chatbot (a program you chat with).

What CalmCompanion would use

In short: CalmCompanion is in development and not yet available. It would use the parts of your profile that make conversations more relevant and less tiring.

  • The sensory areas where your answers were in the high or severe band.
  • Whether you prefer written or spoken communication, and the pace you prefer.
  • Your masking band and the most prominent part of your masking, and your burnout band.
  • Whether you have deep interests, and your routine and flexibility and emotional regulation bands.
  • The messages you write to it.

What it would not do

In short: reading your profile would not mean it could guess anything it likes about you, or claim to understand your mind.

  • It would not diagnose autism or any other condition.
  • It would not claim to know more about you than your results show.
  • It would not be an emergency or crisis service.

Data and safety limits

In short: before CalmCompanion is available, we will update the privacy policy to cover it, including that Anthropic, the company that runs its AI service, processes data outside the UK.

  • It would use only the information it needs to reply to you, and the privacy policy, updated to cover CalmCompanion, would apply to that information.
  • In a crisis, the AI would stop and you would see a message that a person wrote in advance. It would list crisis services.
  • CalmCompanion will not be made available until its safety rules have been tested.
  • When CalmCompanion is ready, it will use an AI service run by a company called Anthropic, which processes data outside the UK.
