Waiting for an assessment
You have recognised the signs. You have asked for help. Now you are waiting for an assessment, and the wait can be long. While you wait, SensoryShore gives you a free questionnaire that describes your own patterns in plain words.
While you wait
Understanding yourself should not have to wait for a diagnosis
The wait for a formal NHS (National Health Service) autism assessment can take years. The services are under a lot of pressure. During that time, the challenges you face do not pause. SensoryShore gives you a structured way to understand your own patterns while you wait. You do not need a diagnosis to use it.
A clearer picture of your own patterns
NeuroProfile is the free questionnaire on SensoryShore. The questions are adapted from questionnaires published in peer-reviewed autism research. Peer-reviewed means other researchers checked the work before it was published. Your results include how you respond to what your senses pick up, how you mask, and whether your answers show signs of burnout. Masking means hiding or changing how you naturally act, so that you fit in with other people. Burnout means deep, long-lasting exhaustion. The results are not a diagnosis, but they give you words for your own patterns.
A letter for your GP
When you finish the questionnaire, you can prepare a letter for your GP (general practitioner, your family doctor) and download it. The letter describes your results in words, in your own voice. It is a starting point for a conversation with your GP, not evidence for a referral (a request, usually from a GP, for you to have an autism assessment).
Important
SensoryShore is not a diagnostic tool and does not diagnose autism or any other condition.
